Our God Is a Consuming Fire

Notes from our Great Impact Sunday service.
Proverbs 17:3 (KJV)
- God is known as a consuming fire.
- Our hearts are tested and purified through the fire of God.
- When you face problems, it is because God is refining your heart like gold in a furnace.
- Our hearts are in the hands of God, and He uses the fire to purify and transform us.
Proverbs 23:7
“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.”
- A person is not defined by what we see physically, but by what is in their heart.
- You know a person through their heart, not through their appearance.
- God looks at the heart and desires to refine it.
Matthew 7:13
- The way to God is narrow because it requires spiritual commitment.
- Following the ways of people is easy, but following God’s way requires discipline and obedience.
Psalm 51:1-8 (NLT)
- Allow God to work on your heart.
- Ask God for cleansing and renewal.
- God is interested in a pure heart and a right spirit.
Matthew 5:20
“Unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.”
- God is not only looking for outward actions, but a transformed heart.
- True righteousness comes from within.
John 15:1-4
- The Lord is not looking for quantity but quality.
- God cleanses every branch that produces fruit so it can produce more.
- God removes anything in us that does not reflect Him.
- We must remain connected to Him to bear fruit.
Galatians 5:22-23
- The Fruit of the Spirit.
- We measure our relationship with God through the fruit produced in our lives.
- The fruits in our lives come from the heart.
- God is in the process of cleansing us so that He can produce His fruit in us.
