Our story
In 2003, a divine encounter unfolded during an outreach for our Father, Reverend David Ngandu, at Johannesburg Hospital. There, he met a Sister in need of prayer at her home in Protea Glen Ext 4. The compassionate prayers continued, leading to a pivotal moment on January 26, 2004. After Rev. David Ngandu’s morning devotion, the Lord appeared to him, delivering a profound instruction to relocate to Soweto and establish a ministry that would later be known as Salem Assembly.
“Through divine encounters and compassionate prayers, we find our purpose. In the heart of Soweto, the Lord’s profound instruction has led us to establish Salem Assembly.”Rev. David W. Ngandu, Founder

Vision
Rebuilding the Altar of the Lord
Our vision is to dismantle the figurative altars of negativity and evil influences, and in their place, establish the Altar of the Lord , a symbol of faith, hope, and divine connection, as guided by Judges 6:25 and 1 Kings 18:30.
Preparing the Church for the Divine Call
We aim to prepare the Church, our spiritual community, for the divine call, symbolized by the sound of the trumpet. This vision guides us to foster readiness, unity, and spiritual growth within our congregation.
Mission
Embracing Faith
To guide every individual we encounter towards the realization that through faith in Jesus Christ, God’s abundant blessings are accessible to all.
Empowering Communities
To effect positive change within our church community and broader environment by implementing initiatives aimed at poverty reduction and promoting social development.
What we believe
The Trinity
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three dispensations. We acknowledge the unity of God, manifested in three forms: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ
We experience the absolute deity and humanity of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. He lived a sinless life, sacrificed Himself for our transgressions, was resurrected, and is destined to return.
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit gives spiritual life, regenerates, sanctifies, indwells, guides, empowers, leads, heals, equips, disciplines, and comforts all believers. He serves as our guide and source of strength.
Salvation
The path to salvation is through the atoning death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This journey is accomplished through repentance and faith in God and the atoning work of Jesus Christ.
The Church
The body of Christ consists of all true believers born again by the Holy Spirit. Our congregation consists of reborn believers who have dedicated themselves to Christ.
The Bible
We regard the Bible as our inspired, infallible guide. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness.
Humanity & Sin
Humanity, distanced from God due to sin, can find salvation through faith in Jesus. Through Christ, we are reconciled to our Creator.
Ministries
Connections
Our Connections Ministry serves as a bridge between the church and its members. We create a welcoming and inclusive environment where everyone feels connected and valued, from greeting newcomers to facilitating small groups and fellowship events.
Children’s Ministry
Dedicated to nurturing the spiritual growth of our youngest members. We provide a safe, fun, and engaging environment where children learn about God’s word through age-appropriate and interactive curriculum.
Discipleship Core
Foundational and maturity classes designed to help believers grow in faith. Our foundational classes cover salvation, baptism, and the nature of God, while maturity classes explore spiritual gifts, the role of the church, and deeper scriptural understanding.
Intercessors
A vital ministry dedicated to standing in the gap, praying for the church, its leaders, and its members. Our intercessors carry the burdens of others before God, seeking His guidance, wisdom, and intervention.
Media
Leveraging media platforms to spread the gospel and connect with our community. From live streaming services to managing social media, our team ensures God’s message reaches far and wide.
Men
Equipping men to lead with integrity in their homes, churches, and communities. Through Bible studies, prayer, mentorship, and fellowship, we encourage men to grow in their walk with Christ and walk boldly in their God-given calling.
Music
Dedicated to leading our congregation in worship and creating an atmosphere where people encounter God. From traditional hymns to contemporary worship songs, our goal is music that helps people connect with God.
Social Development
Serving our church and community with love and compassion through outreach programs, community service projects, and hospitality. We strive to make a positive impact and show the love of Christ in practical ways.
